“RBB’s Scoobie” has. In order to honor his request, we are going to make this official! Make your guesses in the comments and I’ll update the post this time tomorrow, naming both the winner and the estimated cost. Why so long? I want everyone to have a chance to play!
Just in case you missed the original post along with the better photos, take a minute looking at the damage before you take a guess.

Every time I’ve taken a car in for ‘minor’ body repairs it’s been $1,600.00. So that much.

Don’t be that guy on The Price is Right. I hate that guy. I always planned that, if I made it to TPR and the bidder next to me raised me by $1, I’d flip him off in live TV (I know, the show is taped). Or punch him in the head.

About $8,000-$10,000
$1,000 per airbag, x 2 = $2,000
$450 door skins, x 2 = $900
Wheel & Tires, (insurance for 1, your on your own for the other 3) about $1,000 ($400 for wheel, $600+ in tires
$1,000 in suspension and re-alignment
$2,500-$4,000 in paint (metallic flake, at least 1/2 the car is getting painted
$2,000+ in labor
This of course is just a guess. My other guess is that they might just total as the cars damage is more than 50% its value

I’m going to make a wild guess of $10,000. That’s about what it cost to fix my BRZ after being rear ended. Metal will have to be replaced in the same corner as me. You have bashed doors instead of my bashed bumper (hopefully the cop didn’t damage it when he pushed the car out of the way), so I figure it’ll even out.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 13:54 |

$9,176.56
I say this because my wife was rear-ended back in December (Subie Crosstrek) and damage was more than what the eye can see.. The original estimate from the insurance company was 5,500 dollars... Come to find out there was suspension damage that couldn’t be seen until everything was taken apart... That was an additional 1,800 dollars added to the list.

$10,200 with parts, labor, and paint. Just guessing the airbags are going to total a G by themselves, the door, the suspension, plus a quarter panel and all the labor to weld and blend paint it in.

$8034.90, using OEM parts, no tire(I was too lazy to look up a price) and no additional operations(cover car, mask jambs, etc.)

Who’s the other guy?
![]() 02/01/2016 at 14:45 |

$10,500. Make sure to have all suspension members checked and wheel bearings. Don’t be stuck 500 miles down the road with humming bearings at speed and a slight pull that won’t go away with an alignment check. Have the wheels checked for roundness too. Get hit hard enough to set off airbags and the wheels probably took a good hit too.

With the insurance estimate in, my next stop is to visit with the body shop to get their take on it.
And yes, the wheel did take a hit. It now points about 10° to the right.

Yeah I was told to wait 3 to 5 days for someone to come look at my Z. Since it’s a classic they want to see it first. I don’t trust a person used to looking at newer cars to know shit about it, they said I can make amendments. I have an actual metal bumper and it can’t be banged back, so that has to be replaced etc... So I’m waiting and I hope I can get it looked at and to the shop before the Super Bowl crap ends, because I am very busy taking all the graphics down from that event.

Followed for Oppo. Comments will automatically be out of the grey now.

Woo! My TSX was lightly tapped head on at around 10 to 15kmh and the damage totaled a little over $8000 before tax. I’m curious to see what this will cost now that I daily a Legacy GT which is almost the same car.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 15:44 |

$13001. Not sure if that’s enough to total it but I see structural repair around that rear door being a pain in the neck. There are probably a couple of layers of metal there, all of which are crumpled.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 15:59 |

I’ll say around $11,000.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 16:12 |
